Anne Rice: Called Out of Darkness

A month ago, I got the urge to read/listen to Anne Rice's Christ the Lord, Out of Egypt. Not a bad book with an interesting take on Christ as a kid. It wasn't the best book but the Author's Notes at the end were wonderful! She told a little about coming back to the Church. She made some really great comments.

Now, I have just finished Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession, her memoir. Great book. It starts out with her childhood in a very Catholic family, her 38 years as an atheist and her eventual return to Catholicism. I think you will see Anne was not bamboozled by some side show preacher. Her journey was a gradual return to what she believes is truth. It is a very touching story.

Here is a video she posted on her site to her fans. You can tell she really loved Lestat but had to let him go.

LMAO!

Oh, come on!

Yesterday, at Mass, Father Kevin Slattery announced he would soon be the new pastor of Sacred Heart and Holy Child Parish in Canton. Our new Sacramental Minister, at St. Joseph, will be Father Kent Bowlds. To say the least, my family and I were none too happy about the new assignments. Although I am sure Father Kent will serve our Parish well, it is hard to see Father Kevin move on. We really love the guy! He is a good man that has a wonderful personality and is extremely approachable. I would even go so far as to say he is Saintly! The folks in Canton are going to love him as well.
