We moved HappyCoop I to Paw Paw's

HappyCoop I looks more like a dog house next to Ms. Mildred's barn.

Paw Paw thinks we are silly for worrying so much about the girls.
Doesn't Austin and Paw Paw look like big old sexy red necks!

Paw Paw's Barn

If you were wondering what the new chicken home looks like, here it is. Paw Paw's barn at Ms. Mildred's house. It is a magical place filled with rabbits and now, more chickens. I am sure they have all adjusted to their new surroundings and have plenty of new friends.

That's right! The little punks have probably forgotten all about me and my demands to produce more eggs! They are happy to no longer be watched 24/7. To no longer endure countless conversations with the crazy man in the goofy hat. Well fine! You enjoy your new digs there at Casa de Paw Paw's! I'll be back at "the real home", watching the grass grow.

Manhunt in Madison, The City, is finally over!

After avoiding capture for more than two years, Animal Control officials for the City of Madison, finally caught up with the elusive Craig West, aka Chicken Man of Madison. Upon receiving several complaints by his neighbor, Kussi T. Killthemall, MAC officials were forced to enforce the City's anti-chicken ordinance and ordered West to remove the illegal birds.

That's right, I finally got busted for keeping chickens in the city limits. They have all been moved to my Father In-Laws. Although I won't be seeing them everyday, I will try to keep you informed of their well being.

After only being in the new pen for about 10 minutes, 3 "locals" tried to show Lydia who her new bosses were.

After a couple minutes of hair/comb pulling and scratching, she quickly showed those chicks who was the real boss!

Notice the terror in their eyes.

Thanks to all those who have sent letters and cards of condolence, especially those who made this.

Point being, while you are intrigued about chickens dancing around, I can make music suggestions! I get to push suggestions off on you!

Gadawan Kura

Ok, first I stumbled on Pieter Hugo's photo series on Nollywood.
Then, I found his series on 'Gadawan Kura' as they are known in Hausa (a rough translation: 'hyena handlers/guides'). These photos are amazing!

And I thought my cats looked tough!

Nollywood series >
Hyena Men series >

Buffy, the 'urban chick' of Kalamazoo

Yes, I scope out the news for stuff like this. I love these kinds of stories. Until you've had a chicken, it is hard to understand. They are almost just like cats. They like to be played with for a minute and then, they are off to their own thing.

The Martyr of Auschwitz

Today is the feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, one of my favorite Saints.
During the Second World War he provided shelter to refugees from Greater Poland, including 2,000 Jews whom he hid from Nazi persecution in his friary in Niepokalanów. He was also active as a radio amateur, with Polish call letters SP3RN, vilifying Nazi activities through his reports.
On February 17, 1941 he was arrested by the German Gestapo and imprisoned in the Pawiak prison, and on May 25 was transferred to Auschwitz I as prisoner #16670.
In July 1941 a man from Kolbe's barracks vanished, prompting SS-Hauptsturmführer Karl Fritzsch, the deputy camp commander, to pick 10 men from the same barracks to be starved to death in Block 13 (notorious for torture), in order to deter further escape attempts.[citation needed] (The man who had disappeared was later found drowned in the camp latrine). One of the selected men, Franciszek Gajowniczek, cried out, lamenting his family, and Kolbe volunteered to take his place.
During the time in the cell he led the men in songs and prayer. After three weeks of dehydration and starvation, only Kolbe and three others were still alive. Finally he was murdered with an injection of carbolic acid.

GermanFest is coming September 28

Yep! That's right, I worked a chicken into this year's design. Actually, it was Trudie's idea. Oh, and Huhntanz is German for Chicken Dance. What's chicken dance? Are you kidding?! Let's watch Vince Neil in this instructional video.

See, it basically turns any one into a goofball. (of course, Vince didn't need the dance to be a goofball)
I would truly like to thank Vince for this video. It definitely gave this post the life it needed.

First day of school!

Let's see if we can guess what their day will be like.
"Holy CRAP! New school. New teachers. I heard they are really mean! I'm freaked out. My stomach feels funny. I bet I get lost. I bet they serve that gross carrot salad with raisins today. Man, I hate that stuff."

"Dude! I just got this bitchin' train whistle installed in my truck. This thing is so loud! It's gonna be great! That school is going to be crawling with the ladies! Yee haw!"

What a strange first day of school it always was. I never got used to it. All those people. Not your friends but the ones you hoped you wouldn't have to see anymore. Getting up early again! After a summer of sleeping late and having no real schedule, getting up early is the worst. My first day was always filled with that stomach ache that wouldn't go away. All day long. Even at lunch. Even once I got off the bus at home, it stayed.

Can we go ahead and just make this a catholic hymn?

Sure, I know this isn't the Bjork video but I LOVE this! No, they can't play or sing the best but listen to the magic in their version. Love it.

Let's just sing along with these lyrics, shall we!

ALL IS FULL OF LOVE

You'll be given love
you'll be taken care of
you'll be given love
you have to trust it

Maybe not from the sources
you have poured yours

Maybe not from the directions
you are staring at

Trust your head around
it's all around you
all is full of love
all around you

All is full of love : you just ain't receiving
All is full of love : your phone is off the hook
All is full of love : your doors are all shut

All is full of love

Are those not the best lyrics ever?! "Maybe not from the sources, you have poured yours..." Maybe you have put all your time and effort into a bunch of crap that is never going to pay off. I like to think that maybe God is throwing love all around us and we are ignoring it. We just "ain't receiving."

Finally some rain!

My grass is on bended knee in thanksgiving.

Good grief that's a big egg!
