He's got a bucket on his head
Inspired by Kny to spread the love of good music, I am posting this little live video of Buckethead. He makes me happy. Nope, not a lot of vocals. As Eric says, "That's what makes it so perfect."
Who is he, really? Who knows.
Why does he wear a bucket on his head? Who cares! Listen to that man play! Just amazing.

Cloth yourself in happiness

Alrighty! That's what I'm talking about!
I have added a store where you can pick up some HappyKreg goodies. Shirts, hats, underwear. The basics. Oh! And shoes!
NOTE: HappyKreg Gear is a non-profit store. The cost of each item is base price from Spreadshirt.com. I don't make a dime. After all, I will probably be the only customer.

The HappyGarden
As I mentioned before, I started farming our huge acreage this year. It has been a huge undertaking and working me ragged. Here are some shots. Notice those big orange tomato baskets. I just made those the other day. Wyatt helped me as I cut the wire into 6 foot sections. On the second section, I accidentally let the wire snap back on him and he got skewered in the forearm. His comment, "Oh great! You wouldn't listen to me! Now, look who's bleeding."
We got him cleaned out and bandaged up. Maybe he won't get lock jaw.

White Rock?

So when I bought the new girls, the man at the feed store called out what breed they were as I put them in the box. Her and her sisters (I assume they are sisters) were dubbed "White Rock." Gee, those look like brand new red feathers to me. We will have to see. Either way, she is cute as can be!
HappyCoop II: Construction starts today!

With the purchase of the new girls, we are quickly going to run out of coop space. Here is the "plan" for the new improved coop. The old coop stays where it is but this new one will be larger and positioned on the other end of the run. As you can see from the "plan", it will feature 8 laying boxes instead of 4.
I was lucky enough to get some free wood from my wonderful niece Bobbie Jo. Her and husband Josh are building a new house and have lots of scraps to spare. Maybe this coop won't cost so much to build. I kind of spent a lot on the last one. Oh, and the kids gave me a Lowe's gift card for my birthday so that should take care of hinges and what not.
I am a horrible carpenter! Mostly, because I just haven't done a whole lot of it. I have learned one thing: If you use enough galvanized screws, you can get ANYTHING to stay together.

Introducing Olivia Grace Bailey

We name all our chickens after people we know (or have at least heard of). This little cutie is named after Olivia Grace Bailey of the Madison, Mississippi Baileys. I think she is a Red Leghorn. We'll confirm that once she grows up a bit.

Two weeks old and already starting to look like preteens
The new girls are still cute but starting to show signs of new feathers. The next few weeks, they will lose that cuddly cute look and get all gangly.

Those are HOT chicks!
I have 21 new chicks! I bought them from Delta Feed & Seed in West Jackson. Man, what a horrible location but what beautiful birds.

Welcome to HappyKreg Land!
I have decided to start a blog! Well, who hasn't? What's it about? Most posts will be about my backyard farm. I have a few chickens that I love dearly. I also just started growing a few vegetables. I might post some stuff about my tomatoes if I can keep the squirrels at bay long enough for one to ripen. Let's just see how it goes.
First order of business after I get a few chicken posts up will be to change the page design. At least slap together a nice header image or something. I'm sure that will take days if not weeks as I will over think it to death. Anyway, enjoy the photos and movies of my girls!
